The Pogona Adenovirus Testing Society
Promoting healthier adenovirus free bearded dragons.
Home Page
Our mission here at the Pogona Adeno Testing Society (PATS) is to provide information to the public regarding Adenovirus testing that is currently being done today in bearded dragon colonies.  We also want to offer the consumer information that is up to date on breeders who are currently testing for the Adeno virus, what the results mean and how the test results are interpreted.
The future of the bearded dragon species lies in our hands now.  It is imperative that we strive to keep our offspring healthy in captivity and kept Adenovirus free.  It is our goal to help educate the public, raise awareness and to help prevent the further spread of it.  Our mission is simple, to help conserve the species in order to help them to continue thriving in the future, but we can only do it with your help and your support.

About our services and how to get started:

We will require members to agree to specific terms of agreements in order to bring you quality assurance.  The members will need to agree to certain testing stipulations.  Due to an increased interest in testing, but due to the cost we have decided to help make testing more affordable for the smaller scaled breeders who are willing to begin testing.

****There is currently a new test that we have just recently brought on board which is the Polymerase Chain Reaction test or otherwise known as the PCR test.  This is the most definitive test on the market which will cut down on the cost of retesting, except for bringing in new dragons into the colony during a quarantine processing period.

We are relying on the honesty and integrity of our members as this needs to be a cooperative effort  from everyone involved in this effort.  The members will sign a consent form which gives permission to Ernie Colaizzi, owner and director of Research Associates Laboratory of Dallas to release your test results to PATS.  This form will be sent to you after you have filled in the contact form on the Adeno testing page.  This document is legally binding and needs a notory signature stamped on it before sending in the samples for testing.

So the first step is to fill out the contact information form and submit it to us.  We will contact you with further instructions after we receive the initial contact form.
The sign up information includes a disclaimer and terms and conditions of agreement  to membership which you will need to review prior to signing up.  If you would like to just get more information without signing up, please click on the email link below to just obtain more information.

This is strictly used for research and data compilation and to let people know where they can purchase bearded dragons from breeders that are currently testing, that have already  tested, and have thus far tested negative currently.  Your privacy is very important to us thus we will make every effort possible to ensure that it is not invaded in any way.   No names will be disclosed  at this time on this website unless it is requested by the individual breeder.  Every effort goes into retaining each breeder's privacy.

While we here at PATS realize that no system is perfect, this is a huge leap in the right direction and we feel the effort of trying to establish Adeno virus free colonies here in the United States is needed to ensure a healthier future of breeding for bearded dragons.  Every measure will be taken to ensure that this testing system is done in a professional and efficient manner.

This new avenue now is to provide and encourage breeders to have more confidence in the testing results.  I am very pleased to be offering this expansion to be able to offer the Polymerase Chain Reaction test through the Research Associates Lab in Dallas, Texas.  This is an incredible opportunity to work with Ernie Colaizzi.  This will take our data compilation one step further since this more define and  can confirm a positive or a negative Adeno test with absolution.  It is still recommended to continue testing for 1-2 years, periodically, to ensure the results.  If they are testing clean for 1 1/2 to 2 years it is safe to claim they are Atadenvirus free unless you introduce a new dragon into the colony without the proper quarantine.

There is a new link of the Research Associates Laboratory provided on the Adenovirus Articles page.

We are looking forward to providing the most current data on Adeno virus that we possibly can in order to help people in their efforts of obtaining the healthiest dragons possible for ownership or for breeding purposes.  Thank you for your interest and committment to the species of Pogona here in the US.
